14,000 Words Reached

The thing about Twelfth Meridian is, it’s not that I’m too lazy to make the day’s goal – that’s still 2000 words! It’s that I’ve been busy doing another project with Mr H. That one’s super secret, though 😉

I thought I would lose myself in the draft again, but I found a workaround. I saw someone review writing tips on TikTok, and one person used their wall and some sticky notes to plan out their story. I got some thumbtacks for a similar thing, but I did try the wall – the notes won’t stick there.

But I finally have a use for the thumbtacks – I forgot I even had them in my bag! There’s one stream of planning already waiting on my desk, and I’m going to keep planning tonight and tomorrow.

I Keep Getting Ideas

It’s a real pain that I’m getting so many ideas at once, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all of them. Things have escalated, and now I’m seeing a problemo with Evermore Quatrain only having five Centuries.

I now want to complete the collection, with five to seven more centuries. I dunno, 12 whole centuries sounds so complete.

But right now, Evermore Quatrain 2 is only a plan. To tell you the truth, writing an EQ is easy and quick, so I’m going to try incorporating it into my already busy routine (the one Mr H and I are working on together).

While I mull over the idea, I’ll get playing Sims 2, and see what drama I can stumble over lmao

I Made A New Blog

This one’s an odd one!

I was so sick of not being heard for my other passion, psychic reading, that I decided I wanted to change that scene today.

This is my new blog Homrpantr, where I discuss Numerology, Palmistry, contact with the gods, and psychic readings I conduct – the first started off quite big!

You may call me weird, but there’s something cathartic about finally getting the words out and making this world of funky magic stuff known. I’m happy to have this platform.

The Dangers of Monopoly

I’m not talking about the game, but guaranteed that has ended friendships.

But we’ve seen it all by now. Something gets popular, then companies want to milk it for all it’s worth, then the series becomes unrecognisable. Lost, The Simpsons, Happy Days, to name a few.

One problem is knowing when to stop. A story can only have so much to tell, and short tales have just as much worth as a long one. Companies, unfortunately, stop caring about the product, and force their employees to write brand new additions, most of which have nothing to do with the original plot.

As a writer, this scares me. If something of mine ever gets big, I would tread carefully, and make doubly sure I tell them I want the series to end as it should.

Unfortunately, this is gonna keep going. It’s terrifying, and it’s gonna take a lot to make this pattern die down.

I’ve Revived My Twitters

I’ve been putting off Twitter for months, but a switch in my head decided yesterday that I missed Twitter with a passion.

Now, I have two accounts:

@invader_stim is for writing and general stuff like The Sims, or music. I will talk about Evermore Quatrain as simply the book itself.

@homrpantr for psychic/Jedi discussions, and I also handle Evermore Quatrain predictions.

So, if you would like to ramble with me on Twitter, I welcome you to do so. In any case, you enjoy your day, and treat yourself.

I Celebrate My Characters’ Birthdays

When I was in high school, I would have been laughed at for this practice. But on social media, I found that other writers do this too. And thinking back to shows like My Hero Academia, I realise how many popular creators do this, too.

I mention this as, today, the 3rd of March, is Karu Hajji’s birthday. I remember to celebrate this birthday, and I promise to celebrate every other’s, but unfortunately, I end up missing it and swearing at myself over it.

Now, if you want to wish Karu a happy birthday with me, I’ll give you some pointers: he’s not a fan of sweets. Go ahead and eat your own cake, but it’s tradition that he eat fried tarantula. He also likes tea, so if you want, treat yourself to a high tea lmao.

And I will gush about this every year – I promise!

10,000 Words Reached

It’s taken months and a whole rewrite to get to this point. But this time, I’ve actually expanded on the narrative so that the first three chapters make up 10,000 words so far.

The 2,000 word routine is quite useful, but today till tonight before dinner was ready, I found myself struggling in the third chapter. Tomorrow is going to be tough, especially while I want to look at mice to consider another future life choice.

But I feel like I’ve infodumped in this latest session. Better not mull over it too much, or I’ll never get a draft done.

Pinch & Punch

First day of the month!

Sorry for the long hiatus, as I’ve been practising my writing routine. I am still writing 2000 words a day, and I’m finally able to keep up with it without losing my breath. I’m rewriting 12M in LibreOffice, and while I was at it, I branched out into other stories, which I probably won’t release.

At the same time, I’ve been working on a project for Jedi. For that one, it doesn’t matter if I catch anyone’s attention.

Throughout the month (and I understand this is late. Hopefully never doing that again) the ebook for Evermore Quatrain released! It is US$3.99 on Amazon, and with this first ever release of mine, I’ve learnt a few things about the marketing on Amazon.

The paperback is now being printed in Australia as well, so the price has dropped significantly, and it’s quite funny because it’s my numbers! I hope you can take a look, and see if you can use the book well.

Challenging Myself

It’s Invasion Day and I completely forgot about it. I hope everyone has a good, safe day. Stay cool.

Anyway, remember how I said I thought 2000 words would be too hard? Well, my husband challenged me to do it the other day. As a joke, of course, but those little jokes always turn out to be right, so I did. Now I’m continuing it every day.

How can I explain the feeling? It’s like, the more I write, even with burnout, the more I’ll have a breakthrough of sorts. Therefore, I feel more free to write, and more ideas come through.

While I do so, I watch AuthorTube and BookTube. If there’s no more, I listen to music, or switch to another YouTube video. Specifically one about The Simpsons or K-Pop. Mr H (my husband) and I are currently watching Miss Back. The politics of it has interested him, though he’s a very casual listener.

Of course, I take breaks every 500 words for coffee, chocolate, or a walk in fresh air. And I’ve equated 500 words to a whole page in Scrivener. Where there’s sparse scenes, I try my best to fill the whole page with it. Tough, but fulfilling.

Welp, I’m gonna go read. If you’re not in Australia, make sure you have a good day too. Stay warm.

Re: King’s Writing Routine

Yesterday, I considered researching Stephen King’s routine because I wrote 1000 words. I watched someone do this to weigh up the results.

Turns out he writes 2000 words a day, and keeps to a strict time, and only drinks tea or water. Either I’m not seasoned enough, or that’s… a lot of writing. Today I got to 500 words without distraction, and I plan to do the next 500 now that I’ve eaten lunch.

In the meantime, I can’t wait for Scrivener 3 to come out soon. I’m on Windows where only the first edition is released, so when I watched this person on her Mac, I gushed over how sexy Scrivener 2 is. And I think, tomorrow, I’ll post my current routine.

Time for vitamins. Wish me luck!
